Our Story
The Paper Corporation, headquartered in Des Moines, IA, is a locally owned, independent, Midwest-based distributor of Cut Size papers, Printing papers, Janitorial products, Safety products and Packaging products for Printers, End Users and Tax Supported Customers.
Established in 1969, our goal has remained the same — offer our customers outstanding service, deep inventory, a consultative sales approach, and competitive pricing.
From our mission statement to our core values, our purpose is to offer our customers products and services that exceed their expectations. Our 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse and utilizing our own fleet of trucks gives The Paper Corporation flexibility to react quickly and efficiently to our customer’s needs.

Richard Johnson

President / CEO
Richard is a graduate of Dana College with a bachelor's degree in business. Richard first joined our team in 1998, bringing in over a decade of sales management experience and industry expertise.
In 2022 Richard stepped into a new role as President & CEO with a focus on protecting the future of the business and the approximately 30 families who work here.
He is proud to be a hands-on owner who is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the business rather than leading from a distance. Richard believes in leading by example through a strong work ethic, accessibility, and a willingness to work alongside employees at every level of the organization.
Dick is not just the owner of First Choice Distribution; he is one of its builders and has been with FCD throughout its journey. In his personal time, Richard is active in his church community and enjoys spending time with his family.
Bob Campbell

CFO / VP of Operations
Bob is a graduate of Robert Morris University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Bob has been with our team since 1999 providing multifaceted and flexible support across our company.
We credit Bob's expertise to his versatile background in high-level buying across multiple industries, coming to us with over a decade of experience. His experience strengthens his organized approach as our Chief Financial Officer, ensuring our accounting department runs smoothly while building trusted relationships with our customers.
Much like his path in our company, Bob continues to grow in his personal life. Husband, father, and grandpa, he holds family close to his heart. He also enjoys a range of hobbies—his personal favorite being competitive handgun shooting.
Zoey Thompson

Human Relations Manager
Zoey is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration & Human Resources. She has been with our team since 2023.
Zoey brings a diverse leadership background to her HRM role, including five years as a licensed nursing home administrator. There, she managed a team of more than 120 employees and led a 10-person management team with responsibility for operations, financial performance, compliance, and strategic planning.
Her experience leading large, cross-functional teams in a complex regulatory environment informs her practical, people-centered approach to human relations. Outside of work, Zoey enjoys reading, traveling, creative outlets, and proudly upholding the family title of "Best Aunt Ever."
Chris Snyder

Purchasing Manager
Chris has been with our team since 1999, bringing a wealth of industry knowledge to her role as Purchasing Manager.
She is recognized for her attention to detail and her ability to build lasting relationships with suppliers across the globe. Chris plays an integral role in advancing technical systems, solving complex challenges, and continually seeking ways to improve our company.
Her belief that success comes from working together helps our team navigate an ever-changing industry while ensuring our customers always have what they need. Outside of work, Chris enjoys traveling with her husband, golfing, quilting, and creating textile art, a passion she enjoys sharing with future generations of her family.
Nicholas Campbell

Warehouse Manager
Nick is a graduate of Simpson College with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. He has been with our team since 2017 as Distribution Manager, overseeing our 100,000-square-foot local warehouse.
Nick brings extensive knowledge of warehouse logistics and distribution. He manages assigned delivery schedules, coordinates customized truck routes, oversees our local delivery fleet, and builds strong customer relationships by ensuring every delivery is timely, adaptable, and customer-focused.
Outside of the fast-paced warehouse environment, Nick enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, traveling the world, and making memories with his wife and their ever-growing pet family.
